Garima Garg never claimed she was “satisfied” with it
Digital Desk: Dr Palmee Borthakur has shared a detailed post on social media expressing strong concern over the ongoing character assassination of Zubeen Garg and the criticism directed at Garima Garg. She wrote that the attacks have crossed all limits, repeatedly affecting Garima Garg’s health. She questioned the cruel motives behind such actions by people she described as “masked friends and fans,” saying she finds it difficult to understand what kind of inhuman pleasure they derive from this.
She stated that their fight is a fight for justice , justice for Zubeen Garg and that gossip and condemnation do not deliver justice. Emphasising that there can be no replacement for Zubeen Garg, she said there is no point in looking for one. However, she urged people to awaken within themselves the courage and humanity that Zubeen Garg instilled in every Assamese, adding that only then can Assam and its people truly survive. She asserted firmly that Zubeen Garg will get justice.
Clarifying reports about the chargesheet, she said Garima Garg never claimed she was “satisfied” with it. Garima had only stated that she approved of the sections and subsections applied to the main accused. She pointed out that the chargesheet has not yet been read, as they are still awaiting a signed and sealed copy. Therefore, the question of satisfaction or dissatisfaction does not arise at this stage. She added that they have full faith in the SIT, the Honourable Chief Minister, and the Honourable Court, and they believe this trust will be upheld. Their stand, she said, remains firm and unchanged.
She also addressed questions about why Garima Garg did not travel to Singapore to file a separate FIR. She explained that the case of Zubeen Garg is being investigated by the government on behalf of the family and the people of Assam, both in Assam and Singapore. She questioned the value of initiating a separate investigation in Singapore that could potentially create conflicting conclusions. She noted that the Singapore Police’s investigation reports, issued earlier and again recently, have remained the same. She asked whether justice for Zubeen Garg would truly be served if repeated investigations yield identical conclusions, and who could guarantee justice in such a scenario.
Raising serious concerns, she questioned the role of certain Assamese individuals residing in Singapore, saying she could not understand their conduct. Despite repeated appeals by the SIT and even the Chief Minister, she noted that many of them did not come forward to cooperate with the investigation. She criticised the behaviour of one individual, Abhimanyu Talukdar, who allegedly laughed in front of the media, asking whether Zubeen Garg’s death was a matter of amusement and calling such behaviour deeply insensitive. She appealed to all concerned to come forward and speak the truth before the court.
She further stated that the court alone will decide who is guilty and who is not, based strictly on facts and evidence. She urged people to stop prematurely branding the accused as “innocent” through public narratives.
In an emotional note, she wrote that being Zubeen Garg’s sister or wife is not easy. The fire that has been burning for the past three months has not diminished; instead, the pain and grief have only intensified. She said others may not understand this suffering, as their lives have returned to normal , filled with entertainment, social media reels, and defamation , while her family’s life came to a standstill on a single date.
She concluded by saying that Zubeen Garg came as a blessing for Assam, and they are fortunate to have had him. She urged people to celebrate him through creativity and humanity, not through politics. Calling for genuine support, she said that the demand for “Justice for Zubeen Garg”
