Digital Desk: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has immediately suspended four players - Amit Sinha, Ishan Ahmed, Aman Tripathi, and Abhishek Thakuri - following allegations of their involvement in corrupt practices related to cricket.
An FIR was filed against the four players at the Crime Branch in Guwahati on Friday.
These players, who have represented Assam at various levels, are accused of attempting to influence and instigate some members of the current Assam team that participated in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 held in Lucknow.
After the accusations surfaced, the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Anti-Corruption and Security Unit initiated an investigation.
Simultaneously, the ACA began criminal proceedings against the accused players, uncovering serious misconduct that could harm the sport's reputation and integrity.
To prevent further deterioration of the situation, the players have been suspended. During their suspension, they are prohibited from:
1. Participating in any state-level competitions or matches organised under the ACA, district associations, or clubs.
2. Engaging in any cricket-related activities, such as officiating as match referees, coaches, umpires, or other roles.
This suspension will remain in effect until the final outcome of the investigation and/or any further decisions by the association.
All district associations have been instructed to strictly enforce this order and notify their affiliated clubs and cricket academies to take necessary measures.
The ACA has reiterated its commitment to preserving the integrity, transparency, discipline, and ethical standards of the sport.
This information was disclosed in a statement issued by Sanatan Das, Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association.
