Rickman decided to pursue acting seriously and earned a spot at RADA, one of the most prestigious acting schools in the world...

Digital Desk: Google commemorated veteran actor Alan Rickman's stunning Broadway performance that altered his career today, April 30. The doodle was inspired by Rickman's performance in Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1987. The late actor portrayed the antihero Le Vicomte de Valmont.

Rickman may be seen costumed as the character and sporting his signature arched-eyebrow look in the doodle. The seasoned actor became well-known for his portrayal of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films.

But he was a well-known actor long before the Harry Potter films. In various plays, his deep, seductive voice and boundless charm won him several honours. According to the Google Doodle blog, "at the age of 26, Rickman decided to pursue acting seriously and earned a spot at RADA, one of the most prestigious acting schools in the world."

"He joined the Royal Shakespeare Company a few years later, where he appeared in The Tempest and Love's Labour's Lost." He achieved fame in 1985 as the anti-hero Le Vicomte de Valmont in the drama Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons). "He began receiving offers to act in films after receiving a Tony nomination for his performance," the blog continued.

Alan Rickman's career flourished in the 1990s, with parts in Sense and Sensibility (1995) and Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny (1996), for which he got Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
