Digital Desk: Jyoti Chitraban came alive with the dynamic opening of the second Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) on Thursday.
Organised by Trending Now Media, with support from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and NFDC, this four-day cinematic festival will continue until January 25.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by acclaimed Indian filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli, alongside prominent Assamese film personalities Manju Borah and Utpal Borpujari.
Key highlights of the festival include:
International Participation: The festival features selected films from 10 Asian countries, including Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Iran, and China.
Film Selection: Out of nearly 200 submissions, 26 outstanding films were shortlisted for screening. The festival commenced with the screening of Uzbekistan's "Sunday."
Today's (January 23) Highlights: The second day features screenings of notable films, including Khanjan Kishore Nath's Karbi-language film "The Lost Path," Bobby Sharma Baruah's "Rodor Pakhi," Prakesh Deka's "The Woodcutter," and the Manipuri film "Phouoibee." Vietnam's "Cu Li Never Cries" will captivate audiences.
Educational Programs: Beyond film screenings, the festival offers masterclasses and panel discussions, creating enriching opportunities for cinema enthusiasts and budding filmmakers.
The festival aims to bring nearly 150 years of Asian cinema to Guwahati, uniting audiences under one vibrant platform.
