Digital Desk: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to commemorate the 1971 war victory with a grand aerial display at Air Force Station, Mohanbari in Dibrugarh on Wednesday as part of the Vijay Divas Celebration 2025.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, is expected to attend the event, although Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's planned visit has reportedly been cancelled.

Organised by the Headquarters Eastern Air Command, the event will highlight the Indian Air Force's operational excellence, precision, and professionalism through a breathtaking aerial showcase over Dibrugarh's lush green landscape.

The display will feature an impressive lineup of aircraft, including Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets, Dornier Do-228 surveillance planes, Antonov An-32 transport aircraft, Chinook heavy-lift helicopters, and Mi-17 helicopters.

Scheduled from 9 am to 2:30 pm, the celebration will welcome military and civil dignitaries, air veterans, and school children.

Beyond the aerial performance, the event will also include an exhibition and the release of a commemorative movie honouring the 1971 war, a pivotal conflict that led to the liberation of Bangladesh and stands as one of India's most decisive military triumphs.

The Vijay Divas celebration holds particular significance for the Eastern Air Command, which played a vital role during the 1971 conflict.

Air operations conducted from bases in the eastern sector, including Mohanbari, were instrumental in achieving air superiority and supporting ground forces, culminating in the surrender of Pakistani forces in the then East Pakistan.

This event offers the public a chance to witness the Indian Air Force's remarkable capabilities while paying tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the armed forces personnel who fought in the 1971 war.

School children attending the programme will gain valuable insight into military aviation and the enduring legacy of India's armed forces.
