New Delhi: The Indian Ambassador in Kabul and the other officials of the Indian embassy will be evacuated immediately to India in view to the prevailing situation in Afghanistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Tuesday.

In a tweet, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi wrote, “In view of the prevailing circumstances, it is decided that our Ambassador in Kabul and his staff will move to India immediately.”

Sources said that Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft has flown from Kabul with more than 120 Indian officials. On Monday, the officials were brought inside the secured areas of the airport safely.

India is closely tracking the situation in Afghanistan and will discuss the shifting of the Indian diplomats from Kabul, the source added.

The Afghanistan government collapsed after president Ashraf Ghani leaves the country last Sunday, following the Taliban entered Kabul on Sunday and take over the Presidential palace.
