When God becomes established in the human heart, ignorance is dispelled and knowledge dawns

Digital Desk: When the family of Zubeen Garg is urging people not to doubt or slander his character, a powerful and spiritually enriching perspective has emerged from Majuli. Zubeen Garg was not only an artist, but a philosopher who was highly enrich with consciousness of spirituality according to the Satradhikar of the Sri Sri Dakshinpat Satra, Sri Sri Nani Gopal Dev Goswami.

According to the Satradhikar, Zubeen Garg’s timeless song “Mayabini” is far more than a romantic melody; it is a profound spiritual expression. He explained why Zubeen had wished for the song to be played even after his death, and how, over time, it has transformed into a form of prayer. He observed that what was once a cremation ground for Zubeen has now symbolically turned into baikuntha, a sacred spiritual abode.

Going into the lyrics, the Satradhikar informed that the term ‘Mayabini rati’ embodies darkness and illusion (maya) the power that holds the material world together. ‘Tumar sobi’, he said, (your image), means the Supreme Soul, Lord Krishna or the godly power which rules the universe. He mentioned that Zubeen experienced this divine being in spiritual knowledge and inner awakening.

Further interpreting the song, he explained that “rati” (night) symbolizes ignorance, while “roud” (sunlight) stands for wisdom and illumination. When God becomes established in the human heart, ignorance is dispelled and knowledge dawns. This, he said, is why Zubeen referred to the “river of sunlight”, a metaphor for divine awakening within the soul.

Through this deep philosophical interpretation, the Satradhikar elevated Zubeen Garg’s creative legacy to an entirely new dimension. He asserted that Zubeen was not just a singer, but a spiritually awakened thinker.

At a time when some sections attempt to socially defame him, this spiritual exposition from Majuli stands as a powerful tribute, reaffirming Zubeen Garg’s enduring legacy as both an artist and a visionary.
