Digital Desk: A cooking gas cylinder explosion in a house in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where guests had gathered for a wedding resulted in five fatalities and 49 injuries.

According to police, the blast that occurred on Thursday afternoon caused a portion of the house in Shergarh sub-Bhungra division's hamlet to also collapse.

According to officials, several of the afflicted had burns covering 80 to 100% of their bodies.

At the residence of the bridegroom, Surendra Singh, guests had assembled and food was being prepared for them. According to Jodhpur (Rural) Superintendent of Police (SP) Anil Kayal, a cooking gas cylinder stored in the home's store room caught fire after experiencing a leak and burst.

Other visitors and locals flocked to the scene and started a rescue effort.

Ratan Singh, age 5, and Khushboo, age 4, passed away instantly. All of the injured were sent directly to MG Hospital, Kayal stated. 

According to district collector Himanshu Gupta, the blast left 54 people injured, five of whom died.

Over a dozen people who were injured and taken to the hospital have between 80 and 100 percent burns, according to Raj Shree Behra, superintendent of MG Hospital.

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister, and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a union minister and member of parliament from Jodhpur, both offered their sympathies for the incident's fatalities. They gave instructions to officials to give the injured the greatest care possible.
