Digital Desk: Serious allegations have surfaced against the central president of Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), a Mising Student's Union, regarding an brutal attack on a journalist in Dimow of Silapathar on Friday.

The journalist, Madhurjya Saikia, currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dibrugarh, recounted, "There was a possibility of an unpleasant situation regarding the Panchayat president election, which is why I was present at the location. The central president of TMPK, who was also there, signaled to a group accompanying him, pointing out that a journalist had arrived."

He further explained, "Without any inquiry, those individuals approached me and launched an attack from behind, striking my head. Subsequently, the group targeted my back and continued assaulting me, eventually taking away my iPhone."

The journalist sustained severe injuries, and his medical treatment is ongoing.

This marks the second instance of violence on journalists in Assam within a week. On June 29, local TV journalist Bimaljyoti Nath and his colleague were attacked in Dhekiajuli.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from journalist associations, political parties, and civil society organisations.

Journalist Madhurjya Saikia of Prag News was brutally assaulted by a group of approximately 30-35 miscreants on July 4.

The attack, reportedly orchestrated by TMPK leaders Tilak Doley and Mintu Doley, took place in the Dimow Panchayat area within the Jonai constituency.

The group, armed with sharp weapons and sticks, launched a brutal assault in an attempted murder.

However, Madhurjya Saikia managed to evade the scene and promptly filed a complaint at the Silapathar Police Station.
