Digital Desk: Ten trainee mountaineers were killed today after being struck by an avalanche on a mountain in Uttarakhand. 

According to Press Trust of India, the director of the mountaineering school where these trainees had enrolled verified the fatalities. While looking for 11 more, rescuers have saved eight people.

The Nehru Mountaineering Institute in Uttarkashi is the source of all the trainees.

Indian Air Force helicopters are assisting with the rescue effort, according to Uttarakhand police chief Ashok Kumar.

About a height of 16,000 feet, the avalanche struck the team at nine in the morning.

Teams from the National Disaster Response Force, the State Disaster Response Force, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police are taking part in the rescue effort, according to the office of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

In order to save the trainees caught in the avalanche on Draupadi's Danda-2 mountain top as soon as possible, the district administration, NDRF, SDRF, Army, and ITBP troops are conducting rapid relief and rescue operations, according to a tweet from the Chief Minister's Office.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, he has spoken with Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, and asked for the army's assistance. It stated, "The centre has assured every help."
