Digital Desk: The Pakistan cricket squad will compete against India in the tournament's opening game on Sunday in Dubai while sporting black armbands. To show support for the flood victims in their nation, this is being done. Floods have severely affected Pakistan, killing people and wreaking havoc in the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan, and Sindh. Balochistan has also been cut off from the rest of the nation as a result of the recent rains.
The Babar Azam-led
team, which defeated India by a margin of 10 wickets in their most recent match
at the T20 World Cup last year, will be aiming for a solid start to their
campaign. With Mohammad Rizwan, Babar put together an opening stand that lasted
more over a century until Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up three wickets. The
pacer, however, will not compete at the Asia Cup because of an injury.
Additionally, it was Pakistan's first-ever victory over India in a World Cup
match.
Babar gave a
motivational message to his teammates during their final net session prior to
their first game and asked them to go back to the World Cup game. He stated:
"It's important to pay attention to your body language if you want to win
the World Cup. Peeche jaake yaad karo, uss game ko yaad karo. Cheese and
preparation are both yaad karoge toh saare yaad aa jayega.
"Aap idhr karte
ho wohi udhr jaake application hogi, achi prepare wohi hogi. Toh zarur ayegi
outcome. Trust Rakho. I am aware of Humhara's major fast bowler, but fast
bowlers in particular, uska kami mehsus mat hone dena. I wish you
success!"
Afghanistan won the opening match of the tournament on Saturday in Dubai, defeating Sri Lanka by an eight-wicket margin. Fazalhaq Farooqi's three-wicket haul enabled Afghanistan to dismiss Sri Lanka for 105 runs in 19.4 overs. Afghanistan easily reached 106 for two in 10.1 overs while chasing a 106-run mark thanks to an unbeaten 37 runs off 28 balls from Hazratullah Zazai. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, meanwhile, scored 40 runs off just 18 pitches.
