New Delhi: The protesting farmers had a meeting on Wednesday after receiving a second draft from the Centre regarding fulfilling all their demands. 

On Wednesday, protesting farmers met to decide on calling off the year-long protests. They will be holding a meeting today at noon to take a formal decision to end their protest.

As per sources, an announcement regarding the end of the protests will be made after receiving a formal letter from the Centre. 

Farmer Unions have stated that the Centre had mentioned all the proposed points raised by farmers in their second draft. However, the point related to the Lakhimpur incident was missing.

After the meeting on Wednesday, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni stated the previous draft from the Central Government on pending demands was not satisfactory to them. So, they have received a fresh proposal from the Centre on Wednesday.

 "We agree with the Government concerning our demands. We will decide regarding stopping the agitation after the meeting tomorrow. No decision has been taken yet on calling off the agitation. Another session of SKM will be held on Thursday at noon," Chaduni stated.

Core committee member Yudhvir Singh stated, "The ball is now in the Government's court. And a final decision will be taken on Thursday.

In its second draft, the Center decided that cases lodged against farmers during the protests would be withdrawn. The withdrawal would be initiated with immediate effect by Central agencies. Likewise, it will request other State Governments to withdraw the cases against farmers.

The farmer's unions had also highlighted the need for monetary compensation for the families of deceased farmers throughout the protests.
