The poisonous fumes caused the victims to lose consciousness. They later died from suffocation.

Digital Desk: A family of six in Delhi's Shastri Park area died of asphyxia after inhaling poisonous gas from a mosquito coil that had been left burning overnight.

A mosquito coil that was on fire landed on a mattress inside the family's home during the night, according to the preliminary investigation. The victims became unconscious as a result of the toxic fumes. They later suffocated to death.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey, police learned of a fire that started in a residence at Mazar Wala Road in Shastri Park's Machhi Market at about 9 am.

When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered that nine people had been brought to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, Tirkey added.

Six people died in the incident, including a woman and a one-and-a-half-year-old child.

Two more people, including a 15-year-old girl, have been taken to a hospital where they are receiving burn injury treatment. After receiving medical attention, another 22-year-old man was discharged.
