Digital Desk: Days after a devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake shook Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula, concerns have grown over the condition of one of Russia's most strategically significant military sites, which hosts some of its most advanced submarines.
Tsunami warnings were issued by the authorities following the massive earthquake that hit near the Kamchatka Peninsula on July 30. The warnings were also issued in countries like the United States and Japan.
As per The Metro reports, the Rybachiy nuclear submarine base, home to Russian President Vladimir Putin's deadliest military vessels, is located dangerously close to the epicentre of the earthquake.
The Rybachiy base in Avacha Bay is a hub for some of the Russian Navy's most strategic nuclear submarines and remains vital to the country's defense operations. It is located nearly 120 kilometres from the earthquake's epicentre.
The recent development has raised serious concerns among military experts and analysts, triggering speculation about the impact the tremors had on the facility.
