Digital Desk: On Wednesday, a Class 12
student from Tamil Nadu's Sivagangai district was discovered dead at his
residence close to Karaikudi. This is the seventh suicide of a student in the
past two weeks. The student's remains had been given to his parents once the
autopsy was finished, according to Vinoj, the deputy superintendent of police
in Karaikudi.
On
Tuesday, we saw the suicide of a student from Class 11 in the Virudhunagar
district. The body was taken for an autopsy to determine the cause of death
after the police reported the death as not being natural. Virudhunagar
superintendent of police M Manohar told the media. According to the parents'
claims that their daughter experienced "extreme menstrual
discomfort," which may have contributed to her suicide, "But that's
the parents' version," Manohar added.

16-year-old girl passed away at her dormitory in the second of the five
incidents that have been recorded thus far. She attended a Kallakurichi-based
private school. However, the police were able to prove that she had committed
suicide. The first was a Class 12 student who also passed away in her dorm room
in the Tiruvallur district.
After
the student from Kallakurichi died, there were sizable demonstrations outside
the school. The Madras High Court instructed the Tamil Nadu government to
assemble a special team to examine the death, and the Crime Branch (CID) is
currently looking into the case.

Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin stated on Tuesday that educational institutions
must view education as a "service" rather than a "business"
in response to the recent spate of suicides in the state. He declared that his
government would not stand by while such episodes of harassment – of any type –
of female students occurred and that those implicated would be apprehended and
punished in an "appropriate" manner.
