In Delhi, Chief Minister Manik Saha met with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and asked him to improve air connectivity...

Digital Desk: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that Agartala will receive its first international air service to Chittagong, Bangladesh, beginning in June.

During a press conference on Tuesday, the minister announced this. He stated that low-cost carrier SpiceJet will begin flights from Agartala's Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport to Chittagong in the first week of June, as necessary immigration and customs approvals are expected to be obtained by then.

According to reports, the development occurred just days after Chief Minister Manik Saha met Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi and demanded that air connection in the northeastern state be improved.

"In a letter written to the Chief Minister, Scindia ji on Tuesday informed the steps taken by his ministry to boost air connectivity in Tripura," Chowdhury stated.

In addition, he claimed that "the central minister also stated that the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) was asked to resurvey the security arrangement for flight service from MBB airport at night."

He added that 143 CISF soldiers would be needed to start night flights from the airport here.

"The union minister made it clear that the ministry cannot ask any airline to introduce flight service on specific sectors," Chowdhury said of the demand for direct flights from Agartala to Mumbai and Hyderabad.
