Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday met at Lok Sewa Bhawan with a 13-member delegation from the ULFA faction that is in favor of discussions but has since disbanded.

The purpose of the meeting was to address the issue of rehabilitating its former cadres. CM Sarma gave the delegation assurances regarding a suitable rehabilitation structure and prompt execution of the signed MoS.

At a camp in Mangaldoi earlier on January 23, the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) pro-talk group publicly proclaimed its disintegration.

The decision made by the leadership and members is by a deal signed in Delhi on December 29 by the Assam government, the central government, and ULFA.

During this momentous occasion, notable figures such as Pradeep Gogoi, Pranjit Saikia, Sashadhar Choudhury, Raju Baruah, Pranati Phukan, Arabinda Rajkhowa, and Anup Chetia were present.

As the organization gives way to a non-political body, the dissolution opens up a new chapter.

In his reflections on the dismantling of the organization, Anup Chetia expressed optimism for communication with the government. He said that despite their lack of restraint, young people are still drawn to ULFA, highlighting the need to make wise decisions.
