Players who withdrew from firstclass cricket before 2003 and received Rs 22,500 will now receive Rs 45,000.


Digital Desk: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) announced Monday an increase in monthly pensions for former cricketers (both men and women) and umpires.

Former Test players who were paid Rs 37,500 would now receive Rs 60,000, while first-class players who were paid Rs 15,000 will now receive Rs 30,000.


Those who previously received a pension of Rs 50,000 would now receive Rs 70,000.

Women internationals, who previously received Rs 30,000, would now receive Rs 52,500.

Players who withdrew from firstclass cricket before 2003 and received Rs 22,500 will now receive Rs 45,000.

“It is essential that the financial well-being of our former cricketers is taken care of. The players remain the lifeline and as a Board, it is our duty to be by their side once their playing days are over,” said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

The new pension schemes will come into effect from June 1, 2022.
