Digital Desk: In a major development for the people of Bajali district, the Brahmaputra Mail has begun a new stoppage at Pathsala Railway Station from Saturday evening, bringing cheer to residents across the district.
The train, which runs between Guwahati and Delhi, halted at Pathsala Railway Station for about two minutes on Saturday evening as part of the newly introduced stop.
Marking the occasion, a special programme was organised at the station. Senior Assam government minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass flagged off the train and felicitated the train pilot with a traditional gamocha. Sweets were also distributed among railway staff and attendees to celebrate the milestone.
Speaking at the event, the minister expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Railways for responding to the long-standing demand of the local residents and approving the stoppage of the Brahmaputra Mail at Pathsala. He described the move as an important step for the development of Bajali district.
Dass also expressed hope that the new stoppage would make transportation more convenient for people in the region and benefit passengers travelling to different parts of the country.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including Pathsala Bazaar Committee president Girish Patgiri and Railway Passengers’ Association secretary Dipankar Sharma, along with hundreds of local residents.
Welcoming the new stoppage, locals thanked both the Assam government and the Railway Ministry and expressed hope that more railway services would be introduced in the future to further improve connectivity in the region.
