For some Indians, being creative is synonymous with "freedom," even when it offends Hindus or the general populace's religious sensibilities.

Digital Desk: Indian filmmaker Leena Manimekalai was criticized after portraying ‘Hinduphobic’ content in her documentary poster.

The poster for the upcoming documentary "Kaali" was released by the filmmaker. The Hindu Goddess Kaali is seen on the poster smoking a cigarette and carrying an LGBTQ flag in the background.

The poster was shown as a part of the "Rhythms of Canada" show at the Aga Khan Museum.

The hashtag "# ArrestLeenaManimekalai" is trending on Twitter as the director faces criticism for her alleged "Hinduphobic" content.

For some Indians, being creative is synonymous with "freedom," even when it offends Hindus or the general populace's religious sensibilities.

Meanwhile, after the backlash that Leena received, she tweeted, "The film revolves around the events that take place one evening when Kali appears and strolls the streets of Toronto. If you see the picture, don't put the hashtag ‘arrest Leena Manimekalai’ but put the hashtag ‘love you Leena Manimekalal'. "

It is well-known that Leena Manimekalai tweets in support of Mohammad Zubair, an Alt News fact-check journalist who was detained for allegedly promoting enmity between two religious groups.
