Digital Desk: Yashasvi Jaiswal of the Rajasthan Royals made history on Thursday as he became the player with the fastest half-century in the Indian Premier League against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chasing 149, Jaiswal got off to a flying start, scoring 50 off 13 balls, breaking KL Rahul's 14-ball half-century in 2018. He also surpassed KKR's Pat Cummins' 14-ball half-century in 2022.

Jaiswal made his intentions clear from the start, hitting two sixes and three fours off Nitish Rana's opening over before reaching his milestone with a hattrick of fours against Shardul Thakur.

Jaiswal eventually finished with 98 runs and even hit the winning boundary as Rajasthan defeated Kolkata by 9 wickets in 13.1 overs.

Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal became the IPL's highest wicket-taker with a four-wicket haul as Rajasthan Royals limited Kolkata Knight Riders to 149 for eight.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal is having a fantastic Indian Premier League season; the 21-year-old opener is second on the list of highest run-scorers in the 2023 edition (477 in 11 innings). Furthermore, with a strike rate of 160.60, Jaiswal is already vying for a spot on the national squad.

The Rajasthan Royals are presently fifth in the IPL 2023 table with three games remaining, including the match against the Knight Riders.
