Desk: After the thunderstorm on Monday morning, cloudy
conditions are likely to persist over Delhi till the evening or tomorrow
morning, IMD scientist R K Jenamani said. He added that the heatwave
conditions, which the capital was witnessing over the last few weeks, are
likely to remain suppressed until May 29 or 30. The people of Delhi-NCR
will get some relief from the heatwave condition.
On Monday, the lowest minimum temperature of the season
(beginning March 1) was recorded, Jenamani said, as the surface temperature in
the national capital fell by 11 degrees, from 29 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees
Celsius due to the thunderstorm. The maximum temperature could remain below 40
degrees till May 26 and is likely to rise to 41 degrees Celsius by May 28. A
thunderstorm is also expected on Tuesday.
On Monday, the incessant rainfall caused waterlogging,
traffic jams, and trees uprooted in several parts of Delhi and Gurgaon.
Passengers at the Delhi Airport also faced delayed flights due to bad weather.
In other news, Delhi’s Covid positivity rate was below 2 per cent for the first
time in 40 days. On Sunday, the capital recorded 365 fresh Covid-19 cases.
