"We should be proud of our greatness, which makes us magnanimous. I'm trying to learn about it. You should also read Dr. S Radhakrishnan's book on Hindu philosophies.

Digital Desk: Supreme Court judge Justice KM Joseph on Monday said he is a Christian but still very fond of Hinduism.

Justice Joseph made the remark while hearing a petition seeking the formation of a renaming commission to restore the "original" names of ancient, cultural, and religious sites in the country that have been "renamed" by barbaric invaders.

"I am a Christian but I am still very fond of Hinduism, which is a great religion and should not be belittled. The heights attained by Hinduism and mentioned in the Upanishads, Vedas, and Bhagavad Gita are unparalleled in any system. In metaphysics, Hinduism has attained great heights. We should be proud of this great religion rather than dismiss it.

"We should be proud of our greatness, which makes us magnanimous. I'm trying to learn about it. You should also read Dr. S Radhakrishnan's book on Hindu philosophies. In Kerala, several rajas donated land for churches and other religious buildings "he stated.

The bench, in dismissing the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by advocate Ashwini Upadhyay, stated that India is a secular country that cannot be bound by the past.

Justice Joseph stated that religious worship has nothing to do with road naming and that Mughal emperor Akbar attempted to create harmony among various communities.
