Digital Desk: A COVID-positive player will be allowed to play during the T20 World Cup and will not be withdrawn if the team doctor feels it is appropriate for him to play, reports said.

According to the latest ICC playing rules, a COVID-positive player will be allowed to play if given the all-clear by the team doctor.

If the player isn't cleared, the teams are free to replace him. However, if someone is permitted to play while testing positive for the virus, his participation in a match won't be hindered.

The group stage matches of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 got underway on October 16. At the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Super 12 round will start on October 22 and the final is scheduled for November 13.

Eight teams are competing for the four vacant spots in the Super 12 stage, including two well-known names—former champions West Indies and Sri Lanka—as well as Zimbabwe, Ireland, the UAE, the Netherlands, Namibia, and Scotland.

In the meantime, it's been claimed that there won't be any required testing during the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
It is to be noted that on November 9 and 10, the two semifinals will take place, in Sydney and Adelaide. Rohit Sharma-led Team India will open its campaign against Pakistan on October 23. The match will be held at the MCG.
