Digital Desk: On Saturday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) lit on fire more than 30,000 kg of illegal drugs in Delhi, Chennai, Guwahati, and Kolkata, all in the virtual presence of Chandigarh-based Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Shah praised Prime Minister Narender Modi's work in this area and claimed that since the BJP took control of the central government in 2014, a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs has been implemented, with the effects being plain to observe. He continued, "The Indian government adopted a zero-tolerance attitude towards drugs when Narendra Modi was elected Prime Minister in 2014."

He added that "actions against the country are funded by the dirty money earned from the drug trade."

Drug use has a negative effect on society, the economy, and the security of the nation in addition to people who use them. He continued, "We have to absolutely weed it out.

As part of the celebrations for "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav," the NCB responded to a request from Modi by launching a drug disposal campaign on June 1. In honour of the nation's 75th birthday, the NCB promised to destroy 75,000 kg of drugs.
