Digital Desk: India bags gold medal in equestrian for the first time since 1982 at the Asian Games. With a total score of 209.205, the Indian team topped the Team Dressage event. China finished in silver with 204.882, and Hong Kong China finished in third spot with 204.852.

Sudipti Hajela, Hriday Vipul Chheda, Anush Gaarwalla, and Divyakriti Singh of the Indian team made history by taking home the country's first gold medal in an equestrian dressage event. Only the top 3 performers' scores were considered for the team's overall score in the Dressage Team event.

Anush Agarwalla's performance, which included finishing last and earning a score of 71.088, increased India's chances of winning a medal. Indian athletes easily defeated Chinese competitors to earn the gold medal, adding to their two silver medals from the 2018 Asian Games.

India only won their 13th overall medal and fourth gold medal in the equestrian competition at the Asian Games. The 1982 Asian Games in Delhi were where India won all three of its equestrian gold medals. India also won team eventing, while Raghubir Singh won individual eventing gold. An individual tent pegging gold medal was won by Rupinder Singh Brar.

The individual dressage competition, which will last for three days, saw Anush Agarwalla and his horse Etro advance to second place with their performance on Tuesday.

In the Dressage Individual category, Chemxpro Emerald and Vipul Hriday Chheda are ranked third.
