The tournament's Most Valuable Player receives INR 12 lakh, while the Emerging Player is given INR 20 lakh.

Digital Desk: The Indian Premier League (IPL), which began in 2008, has grown to be one of the most well-known and lucrative cricket tournaments in the world. The league's popularity has increased dramatically, making it a highly sought-after event for both players and fans.

The winning team in the inaugural IPL season won INR 4.8 crore, while the runner-up received INR 2.4 crore. After 15 years, the prize money has quadrupled, with the winners collecting a stunning 20 crore Indian rupees and the runners-up receiving INR 13 crore.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), according to reports in Sportstar, has set aside INR 46.5 crore in total prize money for this year's championship. The prize money hasn't changed much in recent years, however, since 2016, the winners have got INR 20 crore, while the runners-up have received INR 11 crore until 2020 when they received INR 13 crore.

IPL 2023 prize money for all teams:

1st place: INR 20 crore

2nd place: INR 13 crore

3rd place (Mumbai Indians): INR 7 crore

4th place (Lucknow Super Giants): INR 6.5 crore

The Mumbai Indians became the Indian Premier League (IPL) champions in 2020 and received a cheque for INR 10 crore. The Covid-19 pandemic that year caused the implementation of this cost-cutting approach.

In addition to the team award, players who succeed in different facets of the game also get several individual accolades. A monetary prize of INR 15 lakh is given away with the Orange Cap, which is given to the player with the most runs scored, and the Purple Cap, which is given to the player with the most wickets taken. The tournament's Most Valuable Player receives INR 12 lakh, while the Emerging Player is given INR 20 lakh.

Other awards like the Power Player of the Season, the Super Striker of the Season, and the Dream11 Game Changer of the Season are given in addition to these. These prizes honour athletes who have significantly improved their team's performance.

Seven prizes, including the Player of the Match award, were also given out following each of the 74 IPL games in 2023. Each of these prizes included a monetary payment of INR 1 lakh.
