Digital Desk: We all remember the popular Assamese comedy film, "Local Kungfu," from 2013. The film, directed by Kenny Basumatary, was a major hit. This time, the Director came up with an action-comedy blockbuster titled "Local Utpaat," released on the 13th of this month. The movie leads the box office in big figures and is ahead of Hollywood Giant 'Dr. Strange and Ranveer starrer JayeshBhai Jordaar'.

The film's first-week collection at the box office is estimated to be about Rs 40 lakh, out of which almost 50 percent goes to the theatres.

"The positive reviews are coming from the audience are surely motivating and inspiring. If people love my movies, it gives me a reason to make more, "says the Director.

Talking to Prag News, Poonam Gurung, the lead actress of the film, said that she enjoyed playing her character and she is delighted that people loved the film and came in huge numbers. She played the role of "Maya," and she happens to be the girlfriend of Bonny, a character in the film. Maya's sister does not love her choice and asks her to leave Bonny as he is jobless, but Maya never listens to her. "The movie is a comedy with action and is a story of love and friendship. The movie unintentionally delivers thoughtful messages throughout the story and makes the audience ponder".

In an exclusive telephonic interview with Prag News, the Director said, "We are overwhelmed by such a response and urge the people of Assam to watch it with family and friends." When asked about how the name 'Local Utpaat' came, Kenny Basumatary said they always wanted to give a fun name. Still, when one of his friends suggested that Local Utpaat would be best suited, as they have always been known for their 'Local Kungfu,' a brand would be created, and that's how the name came.

"We are planning to release the movie nationwide due to massive demand in Kolkata, Delhi, Noida, Kharghar, Bangalore, and Mumbai from 27th of this month" for a week, he added. He also informed that if they get a good offer in the near future, they will release ‘Local Utpaat’ in OTT Platforms.

With 'Local Utpaat' stealing the show, it has been proven that the people of Assam do watch good films. Assamese Cinema will surely shine soon if the makers develop good meaningful films.
