Digital Desk: Atleast three people were killed in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey district in a landslide caused by heavy rains, reports said.
Reportedly, over the past week, continuous rainfall has devastated the state, cutting off road connectivity in numerous locations, uprooting trees and damaging residences.
According to Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Ocean Gao, a massive landslide hit Sulung Tapin village in Koloriang circle on Monday, demolishing at least 15 houses and killing three people.
The deceased were identified as Sariu Tongdang (52), Sariu Yajik (47) and Sariu Takar (nine), he said.
Moreover, several individuals were badly injured in the incident.
Further, Gao stated that the affected families had been sheltered in a rehabilitation centre and that relief aid had been distributed to them.
Meanwhile, Border Roads Organisation's Project Arunank Chief Engineer AK Konwar said that the heavy rains hindered security forces' movement on border roads, particularly the Koloriang-Sarli-Huri road in Kurung Kumey district.
The route had a series of landslides, including seven 90-metre-long and six-metre-high landslides on Monday night and another 90-metre-long and six-metre-high landslide around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, he added.
Konwar claimed that the Border Roads Organisation is working tirelessly to clean debris at all 21 landslide sites to permit traffic passage.
