Burj Khalifa Appeared To Have Come Under Attack
Digital Desk: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed on the first day of massive U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump announced.
The death of the 86-year-old leader, who ruled Iran for more than three decades and was among the world’s longest-serving heads of state, was later confirmed by Iranian state media.
In a statement following the strikes, President Trump urged the Iranian people to “take over your government” once the military operations conclude. Further details about the strikes and their full impact are still emerging.
Meanwhile, Dubai’s International Airport and the city’s landmark Burj Al Arab sustained damage as overnight Iranian retaliatory attacks spread across the Gulf states and the wider Middle East, extending beyond U.S. bases and interests.
Authorities confirmed that four people were injured at Dubai International Airport during the incident. Officials said a drone was intercepted, and falling debris caused a minor fire on the outer façade of the Burj Al Arab. Emergency services responded swiftly and brought the situation under control.
On Saturday, another fire broke out near a hotel on the city’s artificially constructed Palm Jumeirah, raising further concerns about the expanding scope of the attacks.
Reports also suggested that the Burj Khalifa appeared to have come under attack, though authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the extent of any damage.
