The Quad summit occurs when relations between China and the Quad member countries have become strained.
Digital Desk: With a focus on the Indo-Pacific region, the Quadrilateral Dialogue (QUAD) met in Tokyo on Tuesday to review the progress of the four-member countries.
At the Quad Leaders Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida. The summit aimed to strengthen cooperation among the influential group's member nations while discussing developments in the strategic Indo-Pacific region.
In addition to Modi, US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attended the Quad summit.
India, the United States, Japan, and Australia are the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue members. Modi also met with Biden and Albanese separately on the summit's sidelines.
The Tokyo summit was the Quad leaders' fourth interaction since their first virtual meeting in March 2021, followed by an in-person summit in Washington, DC, in September 2021 and another virtual meeting in March 2022.
