Digital Desk: Today, sanitation workers of Sivasagar celebrated Kali Puja and Diwali with a unique gesture, distributing school bags to children adorned with images of Zubeen Garg at the Kali Puja venue.
Since Zubeen Garg's demise, Assam has been engulfed in grief, mourning the tragic loss of the beloved singer.
Festivals like Lakshmi Puja, Durga Puja, and Kati Bihu have been observed with a subdued spirit, focusing solely on religious customs rather than celebratory grandeur.
A similar atmosphere prevails during Kali Puja and Diwali this year.
In Sivasagar's Melachowk, sanitation workers observed Kali Puja and Diwali with traditional religious practices instead of extravagant celebrations.
As a tribute to the late artist Zubeen Garg, they pledged to follow his ideals and carry forward his legacy.
Inspired by Zubeen's compassion for the underprivileged, they extended their support by distributing school bags adorned with his image to children from impoverished families.
Additionally, in memory of Zubeen Garg's love for nature, Nahor saplings were also planted.
The event witnessed the presence of sanitation workers alongside leaders from various organisations, social activists, and senior journalists.
