Kabul: The Taliban on 2nd November, announced a ban on the use of foreign currencies in Afghanistan. The move comes when the national currency, the Afghani, has deteriorated gradually since the Taliban's takeover in August.
"The financial situation and national concerns in the nation require that all Afghans use Afghani currency in their daily trade," the Taliban stated.
The economy is struggling due to the removal of foreign financial assistance after the Taliban took control over entire Afghanistan.

The US dollar has been used extensively in Afghanistan's markets. Dollars are likewise usually used for trade in regions adjoining Afghanistan's next-door neighbour, such as Pakistan.
"The Islamic Emirate instructs all citizens, shopkeepers, traders, businessmen and the general public to henceforth conduct all transactions in Afghanis and strictly refrain from using foreign currency," Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid stated in a statement.
"Anyone violating this order will face legal action," the statement added.
