Digital Desk: In a bid to preserve the aquatic species that survive in the Umam river located around Bhoirymbong areas, the members of the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation, Bhoilasa Circle, in collaboration with the office of the Superintendent of Fisheries, Ri Bhoi District, set the example of preserving and conserving these species by releasing more than 25,000 fish at Pynthor and Mynsain villages.

The releasing of fishlings was attended by RBYF Eastern Zone president Kynsaihunlang Nengnong, Fishery Department officer P.S Suting, RBYF Asst Sport Secy, Kit Kharlukhi, Spiritual Hinge, Pynthor Headman Phrangkupar Matlang and others.

They also stressed to the local people the importance of conservation and preservation of other species like animals and insects living in the different forests of the state, which are very rare to stumble upon in this new generation, adding that the barbarian practises of people have caused the huge extinction and loss of all kinds of species living in the forest.
