In a trio contest, the ruling BJP and its alliance partner IPFT face up against the Left-Congress alliance and TIPRA Motha...

Digital Desk: The Tripura Assembly election is being held under strict security. The Congress and the CPI-M have joined forces to depose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from office in the northeastern state.
The incumbent BJP and its coalition partner, the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT), are faced against the Left-Congress alliance and TIPRA Motha, the state's newest regional party, in this triangular contest.

Because both parties have candidates from the Ampinagar constituency, the BJP is contesting 55 seats while its ally is contesting six seats.

The Left, which includes the CPM, Forward Bloc, Communist Party of India (CPI), and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), is contesting 47 seats, while Congress is competing for 13.

TIPRA Motha, led by royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, is contesting for 42 seats. The vote will be counted on March 2.

Tripura CEO reported one hurt in a CPI-BJP scuffle at the polling booth.

A person was allegedly injured in a scuffle between supporters of the ruling BJP and the opposition CPI outside a polling booth in Tripura during the ongoing Assembly elections, according to the state's chief election officer on Thursday.
