Digital Desk: Tuesday, after more than 22 people died and 60 were hospitalised as a result of consuming fake booze in the state's Ahmedabad and Botad districts, Arvind Kejriwal questioned the Gujarati government. The state government has intensified its inquiry into the situation, and a special investigation team (SIT) is likely to be established. The anti-terror squad (ATS) has been instructed to look into the cases.

After offering his condolences earlier that day, Kejrwal said: "A very tragic incidence came to my notice that more than 25 persons died in Bhavnagar after consuming fake alcohol, and numerous others have been hospitalised to hospitals. I hope they recover quickly. Gujarat is the destination of the Delhi chief minister's second trip in a week.

"If Gujarat is a dry state, how is alcohol being marketed freely in the state and who is profiting from this, the question is? In Gujarat, this is not the first instance. He went on to ask, "Why is the government not taking care of this, or is there some sort of conspiracy behind this?"

Over 50 people are receiving medical care in the Botad district, while 16 people have perished. According to reports, the purchase from the bootleggers took place on Sunday night.

Gujarat's Director General of Police announced to reporters: "Less than a day has passed since the crime was solved. Cases have been reported, and 13 people have been named, the majority of whom have been apprehended. Additional research is being conducted, "added he.

Gujarat is a dry state, meaning that selling and consuming alcohol is not allowed. Liquor use is restricted to people who have government-issued permits.
