The Indian archery team confirmed four medals at the ongoing Asia Cup 2...

Digital Desk: Indian archers put on an incredible display on Tuesday, reaching the finals of all four team events in the recurve and compound divisions of the Asia Cup Stage 2 World Ranking Tournament in Tashkent. 

In the semifinal, the top-seeded Indian men's recurve team of Mrinal Chauhan, Tushar Shelke, and Jayanta Talukdar defeated hosts Uzbekistan's Chen Yao Yuy, Mirjalol Karorov, and Amirkhan Sadikov 6-0 (56-54, 57-54, 56-53). They began with a 6-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan (54-49, 58-48, 53-45).

On Friday, the men's recurve team will compete for gold facing their Chinese counterparts.

Sangeeta, Prachi Singh, and Tanisha Verma of the Recurve women's team defeated Uzbekistan in a nail-biting tiebreaker finale to win 5-4 (53-54, 56-49, 52-50, 52-54, 26*-26). In the quarterfinals, the Indian women's recurve team defeated Saudi Arabia 6-0 (50-40, 54-47, 49-45).

 In the women's recurve team final, India will also face China. After receiving a bye into the semi-finals, the top-seeded compound men's teams of Abhishek Verma, Kushal Dalal, and Amit defeated Saudi Arabia 236-221 to advance to the championship. On Friday, they will compete for the gold medal against Hong Kong.

The compound women's team of Parneet Kaur, Pragati, and Raginee Markoo have already advanced to the final after winning the qualification round, and they will compete for gold against Hong Kong. The Asia Cup Stage 2 field is weakened due to the absence of heavyweights in Korea. India has sent their reserve team to the continental showpiece.
