Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah recently declared the state government's ambitious goal of achieving near-complete utilization of allocated funds, aiming to maximize the impact of public spending. Ahead of the new government's first budget presentation on July 6, Mallabaruah emphasized this commitment during a pre-budget consultation in Guwahati.
Speaking at the programme on Thursday, Mallabaruah highlighted that nearly 90% of the current financial year's budgetary allocations have already been deployed, signaling an improved implementation capacity within the government. "Our objective is to move towards almost 100% utilisation of sanctioned funds so that every rupee allocated translates into development on the ground," the minister stated, underscoring the administration's dual focus on efficient expenditure and prudent financial management.
The Finance Minister also informed that the forthcoming budget has been meticulously crafted following extensive consultations with diverse stakeholders and by integrating suggestions from various societal sections. He reiterated that the financial blueprint would continue to prioritize critical sectors such as infrastructure development, employment generation, agriculture, education, healthcare, and social welfare, all aimed at strengthening Assam's long-term economic trajectory. This strategic approach is expected to ensure that public funds effectively contribute to tangible progress across the state.
