According to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, some parts of the state capital received 150 percent more rain than usual between September 1 and September 5.

Digital Desk: After getting significant rain over the previous three days, Bengaluru has once again been inundated. The situation is expected to stay the same because heavy to very heavy rains have been forecast for Silicon City and other areas of Karnataka through September 9.

In addition to flooding upscale apartment buildings and homes, the torrential downpour also damaged power lines and backed up traffic on major thoroughfares. Many people were left trapped in their homes and on the highway. Residents were rescued from waterlogged regions using boats and even tractors.

Water logging severely affected regions like Rainbow Drive Layout, Sunny Brooks Layout, Bellandur, Eco Board, and several areas along Sarjapur Road.

According to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, some parts of the state capital received 150 percent more rain than usual between September 1 and September 5.

Here are the top points.

1) Due to the persistent downpour in portions of Bengaluru, a holiday has been declared for both schools and high schools. Bengaluru is still underwater in many areas.

2) Due to suburban large tech parks' ongoing flooding from overflowing lakes and stormwater drains, many IT companies have requested that their staff members work from home.

3) State Minister of Information Technology Ashwat Narayan will discuss the flooding in the IT corridor with representatives of the IT industry at a meeting scheduled for today at 5 p.m. in Vidhan Sabha.

4) Bengaluru is having its wettest summer in 50 years.162 lakes reached their full capacity as a result of the intense rain.

Two overflowing lakes-Bellandur and Varthur-have inundated residential areas in the vicinity of the lake. Tractors and boats were deployed to get residents out of flooded societies.

5) The heavy rains' impact on Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport's flight operations has also been alleviated.

6) On Tuesday, Chief Minister Bommai cited the "maladministration" of the previous Congress administration as the cause of the city's flooding. According to him, they have given the go-ahead for construction projects to be carried out "right-left-center" on tank bunds and in buffer zones around lakes.

7) The partial restoration of Bengaluru's drinking water supply, which was interrupted due to severe rains in Mandya, Karnataka. In TK Halli, one of the pumping stations is operational, and work is being done to restore the other. The supply would be restored to normal in the coming days, according to CM Bommai.

8) A shear zone that formed between 4.5 and 5.8 kilometres above mean sea level and dumped torrential rains in south interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru City, was the cause of the extra rainfall. A zone with conflicting winds that concentrate heavy rain is known as a shear zone and is a monsoon weather phenomenon.

9) To control the flooding in the city, the state government has decided to release Rs 300 crore. To control the overflow of water after intense rainfall, the administration has also suggested building sluice gates for each lake in Bengaluru.

10) The 800 sq km region of the city of Bengaluru only has 56 sq km of flooding, according to the civic body of the city, and steps are being conducted to clear obstructions from the streams to stop flooding.
