According to Mahua Moitra, who believes that the BJP is not the guardian of Hindu deities and should not instruct Bengalis in the worship of Goddess Kaali, she has handled the situation like a responsible politician.

Digital Desk: Mahua Moitra, a Trinamool Lok Sabha member who caused a stir with a remark she made about Goddess Kaali, enquired as to whether Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma could provide a written explanation of the offerings paid to the Kamakhya temple. "Can the chief executives of other BJP-ruled states take similar action with regard to the offerings made to Maa Kali in their temples? Aren't there offerings in these temples that include alcohol? The BJP badly wants to take me down since I vehemently denounce its wrongdoings, but I am aware that their plan would fail. “According to news agency PTI, the Trinamool leader made the statement while speaking to a Bengali news channel.

Mahua Moitra remarked, "I challenge the respective BJP administrations to put in writing in an affidavit to the court about offerings made to Goddess Kaali."

According to Mahua Moitra, who believes that the BJP is not the guardian of Hindu deities and should not instruct Bengalis in the worship of Goddess Kaali, she has handled the situation like a responsible politician.

I believe my behaviour reflected a mature politician. We have long avoided the topic of the BJP imposing its own brand of Hinduism, which is based on long-standing traditions in North India. The BJP should stop forcing it on residents of other regions of the nation, such as West Bengal, where Hindus have long practised their well-established rites. "Who is the BJP to tell us how to perform Goddess Kali's puja in a specific manner?" remarked Mahua Moitra.

"Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman are not exclusive to the BJP. Has the party adopted Hindu dharma as their own? " Mahua continued.

Mahua Moitra claimed that Kaali was a meat-loving, alcohol-accepting goddess to her at the India Today Media Conclave, which sparked the issue. The remark sparked a significant backlash, leading to numerous complaints and FIRs being made against Mahua in West Bengal and elsewhere. The Trinamool Congress distanced itself from Mahua's comments and publicly denounced them as the situation took a political turn, with the BJP demanding action against Mahua.

The Trinamool leader affirmed that what she said was how Goddess Kaali is worshipped in West Bengal's Tarapith, a significant Shaktipeeth, and she did not retract her remarks. She further explained that her remarks had nothing to do with the continuous poster for Leena Manimekalai's documentary, which depicts a lady smoking while disguised as Goddess Kaali.

"I am capable of worshipping Kaali."

Mahua Moitra claimed during the interview that she knows how to worship Kaali and is a follower of the goddess. "For the last 2,000 years, we have been worshipping the goddess in the same manner." The electorate rejected the BJP, an outsider party that wants to impose its Hindutva agenda. I am an adept at Kaali worship since I am a Kaali bhakt, "she stated.

On unfollowing TMC's twitter handle

Following the uproar, Mahua Moitra unfollowed the Trinamool Congress on Twitter after the party released a statement denouncing her remarks. When questioned about the situation, Mahua Moitra responded, "I am Mamata Banerjee's staunchest supporter in West Bengal." If there are any problems, we will settle them inside the party. We won't talk about it in public. "
