New Delhi: Pakistan is helping the Islamist Jihadi Organization Laskar-e-Taiba (Let) despite International Pressure.

According to reports of Daily Sikh, Pakistan is not only giving protection to the internationally banned terrorist organization but also helping to establish its new base in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and Afghanistan, where the training and recruiting continues actively.

Even though Pakistan banned the organization and its operatives, in reality, recruitment has increased manifold. Not only this, Lashkar-e-Taiba is strengthening its base through a partnership with terrorist organizations like Haqqani Network and Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K), the report said.

Significantly, LeT was involved in the Mumbai series of attacks in November 2008, when 10 members of Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across Mumbai. Soon after the attack, there was international pressure on Pakistan to act against the group and its leader.

Further, the report claimed that the LeT had played an important role in the Taliban’s capture of Afghanistan and that Pakistan uses LeT to set up the base in Afghanistan to Consolidate the Taliban military power.

In May 2018, the United Nations Monitoring Group reported that LeT has been recruiting from a madrassa in Pakistan. Further, the candidates were taken to training camps run by LeT in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces.

Recently, Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged the International Organizations to help Afghanistan from humanitarian crisis after the Taliban Captured the country.

“The world has extended its support to ensure that the people of Afghanistan can live in a peaceful and stable environment after continuing conflict.” The PM said.

Notably, Pakistan helped the war-torn country with 5 billion PKR ($29 million) of humanitarian aid, including wheat, emergency medical supplies, winter shelter and other supplies.
