Digital Desk: More than 60 schools in the cities of Delhi and Bengaluru were thrown into panic state in Friday morning after they received chilling emails that threatened to blow up their schools with bombs. As per reports, 20 schools in Delhi and 40 in Bengaluru were targeted by such threatening messages, prompting major emergency measures.

Authorities swiftly sprang into action. Local police, fire services, as well as Bomb Disposal Squads, were deployed to the affected campuses. Students and the staff were evacuated on a precautionary basis, and security agencies conducted comprehensive searches. By late morning, there have been no traces of explosives at any of the spots as authorities describe the threats as hoaxes.

The email sent to several schools contained disturbing language. The sender said he had put up several explosive devices, namely trinitrotoluene (TNT), in the classrooms, places where they were concealed in black plastic bags. Depending on the message, there were violent and shocking threats, stating:-

“I will erase every last one of you from this world… I will gladly laugh when I watch the news and see parents greeted by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children.”

The sender also made threats of committing suicide, which was indicative of severe psychological problems, perhaps of traumatic experiences associated with school life.

Cybercrime in police departments has already traced email origins, viewed header information, and IP addresses. The police are also investigating whether the case is related to a child (who is 12 years old) who was involved in a similar incident before.

Officials have assured that to will deal with severe charges against those who are spreading panic through digital platforms. Meanwhile, schools are also being asked to put their guard up, tighten security measures, and go through the necessary emergency protocols as investigations continue.

This event is threatening, and it reveals the necessity of cybersecurity awareness and mental health support practices at the places of educational settings and around them.
