Digital Desk: The Indian Army in a terrific and quick action helped control a raging fire  that erupted in Menchuka town in the Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh. Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to national service and disaster response, the Army acted promptly to protect lives and property.

Upon receiving a distress call, a specially formed relief column consisting of 2 Officers, 5 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 86 Other Ranks was immediately mobilized. Under unfavorable terrain and weather conditions, the firefighters went on working to contain the fire, and halt its further spread into the densely populated area. Their quick and coordinated efforts successfully averted the loss of lives and protected several homes that were under immediate threat.

However, their mission didn’t end there. The Army extended humanitarian assistance by distributing necessities like food, drinking water, and other essentials to the families that have been affected by the fire, many of which lost their assets. This aid came as a direct rescue to the people in need and demonstrated an intense feeling of responsibility of the Army to the citizens particularly the distant and vulnerable places.

The Indian Army’s swift action in Menchuka is a shining example of its ethos—service before self, courage in adversity, and unwavering support for the people. Their timely response not only saved lives but also brought hope and reassurance to a community in crisis.
