On July 1, Sanjay Raut, editor of the Sena mouthpiece "Saamana," came before the agency in Mumbai to provide a statement regarding the matter.

Digital Desk: After a thorough search of his Mumbai home on Sunday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) apprehended Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in connection with a money laundering investigation.

The search operation came after two summonses against Raut were issued by the ED, the most recent of which was on July 27. In connection with alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a Mumbai "chawl" and related transactions involving his wife and "associates," Raut was called in by the ED for questioning.

On July 1, Sanjay Raut, editor of the Sena mouthpiece "Saamana," came before the agency in Mumbai to provide a statement regarding the matter.

After that, the ED summoned him twice, but he ignored them because of his involvement in the ongoing session of Parliament. On Sunday at 7 a.m., ED officials and members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrived at Raut's "Maitri" home in the Bhandup area and started a search.

The Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray camp Rajya Sabha member has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he was the victim of political retaliation.

"I swear by late Balasabheb Thackeray that I have nothing to do with any scam," Raut tweeted shortly after the ED action began. "I will die but won't leave Shiv Sena," Raut added.
