New Delhi: The sudden decision by the Centre to repeal farm laws brings a complex scenario among the nation's people. Leaders of opposition parties have highlighted other possible motives of the ruling government's decision to withdraw farm laws.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar attacked the BJP led-government. Pawar said that the Centre would not have withdrawn the farm laws if elections were not to be held in Uttar Pradesh and other states.
It is worth remarking that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the repeal of all three agricultural laws all of a sudden just ahead of assembly elections to be held in UP.
However, the government remained silent on the death of more than 700 protesting farmers. Farmers have been protesting for more than a year now.
Pawar stated, "Elections are going to be held in Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states. When people connected with power went to some villages of these states, they were treated differently by the local people. After considering this, he probably assessed how he would behave when he went to the villages to vote. It seems that this practical decision has been taken based on this background."
Pawar further added, "If elections were not held in these states lately, then this decision would not have been taken."
Moreover, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra completed its two -years in office. This party continues to be under the hawk-eyed vigil of Opposition BJP.

On the actions taken by the Centre in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar stated it is not a new thing.
"What to say if a person who worked on several key positions in the Maharashtra police department says that he is scared of his colleagues and the state police," he added.
Remarking upon the Centre, Pawar said, "Recently I met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. There are six to seven ministers in his government who central agencies are currently harassing. I am going to meet him in Mumbai in the next few days."
Does the ruling government use the decision to repeal farm laws as a significant trick to win elections? Or is the government concerned about the farmers and their plights? This question will receive an answer only after the upcoming elections.
