  • The Congress party launched a coordinated nationwide attack on the Centre on Thursday, with Jharkhand Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirki spearheading the protest in Guwahati, alleging that India's education system has been pushed into a critical state due to exam irregularities

In a strong condemnation of the central government, Jharkhand Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirki declared that India's education system has been pushed "into the ICU" due to persistent failures and irregularities. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Thursday, Tirki led a coordinated nationwide offensive by the Congress party, accusing the BJP-led NDA government of fostering a crisis marked by rampant paper leaks, corruption, and administrative lapses in competitive examinations.

The press conference, held at a city hotel, saw Tirki joined by Assam Congress MLAs Meera Borthakur and Zubair Anam Mazumder. The Congress collectively demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him accountable for the perceived breakdown in the integrity of national examinations.

Party leaders highlighted the repeated instances of paper leaks, particularly citing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), as having severely eroded the confidence of millions of students and their families. The credibility of the National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting these crucial examinations, was also brought under intense scrutiny.

The Congress asserted that the future of lakhs of students across the country, who dedicate years to preparing for these examinations, now hangs in the balance due to systemic flaws. The party's simultaneous press conferences across India underscored the gravity of the situation, calling for urgent reforms to restore trust in the examination process.
