New Delhi: Due to recent disturbances and protests in the Parliament Winter Session, Rajya Sabha has lost more than 52% of allocated session hours.
Lately, opposition MPs have been protesting against various issues in the upper House. Moreover, they have also staged out of the session due to the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha members for causing a commotion on the penultimate day of the monsoon session.
But, the strong return on Thursday and Friday rekindled hope for a recovery to the conventional session. Last week's Upper House productivity was 47.70% of the scheduled time.
According to the report, the home sat for 33 minutes longer than expected on Thursday, increasing overall output for the week to 49.70%.

Opposition has denounced the suspension move as 'undemocratic' and 'discriminating'. However, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has refused to rescind it. He said the suspended members' failed to 'express concern'. Also, Naidu has said that it is up to the House to weigh in on the decision. It is up to everyone involved to see it through.
Last week, as many as 12 opposition MPs were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the duration of the Winter session of Parliament for their "unruly" behavior.
The Congress has six suspended MPs,Trinamool Congress has two, Shiv Sena has 1, and CPI and CPM have one each.
As per the latest report, 78 percent of members attended the Rajya Sabha regularly throughout the past seven sessions. It further explained that the last monsoon session of Parliament had the highest daily presence of 82.57 percent.
