"Atiq is the second Muslim ex-MP to be assassinated with impunity." In 2002, a mob in Gujarat hacked to death Ehsan Jaffry, and today it's Atiq.  Shot and killed in police custody," Owaisi said.

Digital Desk: As the controversy surrounding the murders of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed rages on, Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has lambasted people "celebrating" the crime and referred to them as "vultures."

The MP labelled the crime a "cold-blooded murder" in a statement to the media.

"The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has a hand in this." A committee should be constituted and an investigation should be conducted under the supervision of the Supreme Court. The committee should not include any officers from Uttar Pradesh. This was a 'cold-blooded' murder, according to Owaisi.

He also turned to Twitter to say that Atiq was the second former Muslim MP to be "murdered without impunity."

"Atiq is the second Muslim ex-MP to be assassinated with impunity." In 2002, a mob in Gujarat hacked to death Ehsan Jaffry, and today it's Atiq.  Shot and killed in police custody," Owaisi said.

Between 2004 and 2009, Atiq Ahmed represented the Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency.

Ehsan Jaffry served in the 6th Lok Sabha. Following the Godhra tragedy, he was killed by a mob in the Gulbarg Society massacre on February 28, 2002.

"How did they (the killers) get those weapons?" he continued. Why were they shouting religious slogans after they had killed them? What else should you name them if not terrorists? Will you refer to them as Patriots? Vultures are applauding this incident..."

He stated that the incident raises serious concerns about the state of law and order.

The AIMIM head questioned whether the public will have faith in the country's constitution and law and order following this tragedy.

"I have always said that the BJP in Uttar Pradesh is running the government by the rule of gun, not the rule of law," he remarked.

Owaisi also requested the resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

"I demand the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as well as the formation of a team to investigate this matter by the Supreme Court." "We also demand that all police officers present be removed from service," he stated.

"Atiq and his brother were detained by police." He was restrained by handcuffs. JSR (Jai Shri Ram) chants were also heard. Both were murdered as a result of Yogi's law and order system failing. Those who are celebrating encounter raj are also culpable for this murder, according to Owaisi.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother, Ashraf Ahmed, were assassinated on Saturday while being taken for a medical check in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, only days after their son Asad was killed in an encounter in Jhansi.

Atiq Ahmed was charged in the 2005 murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal, as well as the Umesh Pal murder in February of this year.
