Digital Desk: The flash flood in Sikkim has created havoc in the state leaving so many people in woe, normal lives have been abundantly affected by it.


Amidst this, it's been informed that among the 22 people who have gone missing in the flood-ravaged state of Sikkim is an Indian Army soldier from Assam.


Reportedly, Mitul Kalita, a sepoy from the 620 EME unit, has been identified as the missing Indian Army soldier from Assam.


The Indian Army reported that Kalita was in North Sikkim when flash floods ravaged the state in the early hours of October 4.


Mitul Kalita is from the Assam district of Baksa, according to sources.


The Indian Army has stated that significant search and rescue activities are underway to locate the other 22 missing soldiers.





The search for the missing soldiers has shifted to locations downstream of the Teesta River in Sikkim.


On Wednesday (October 04) evening, one Army man was retrieved alive.


The Indian Army has called and informed the missing troops' families of the present status.


The Indian Army, on the other hand, has established three helpline numbers for families of missing people in Sikkim, including its own soldiers.

The death toll in Sikkim's lake burst-induced flash floods has grown to 19, according to the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).


Notably, 103 persons are still reported missing, with 22 of the missing being Indian Army soldiers.
