New Delhi: On Monday, the Supreme Court approves the Centre’s National Disaster Management Authority scheme to provide ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000 to the kin of those who died of covid-19.
Additionally, SC orders to disbursed the money from state disaster relief funds within 30 days of submitting the application.
The Bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice AS Bopanna ordered that no state should deny the ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the next kin of persons who died of covid-19.

The Bench also orders the State and Centre to give wide publicity to the scheme in print media and electronic media.
Recently, the apex court expressed happiness in the central government’s decision to provide ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000 to the families of those who died of covid-19.
The National Disaster Management Authority earlier suggested that Rs. 50,000 be given to the kin of those who died of covid-19.
It also suggests providing ex-gratia to the kin of those who died of the virus due to the involvement in covid-19 relief operations or activities associated with the preparedness for dealing with the pandemic.
